Introduction
This is the serial work based on the Diary of Ned K, a member of the Waco, Texas "Tribe" (sometimes called The Metal Militia) who managed to survive World War 3, nukes, chemical/biological attack, evil Christian cults, and the walking dead. It is a redux of a story I started when I was 19 (awhile back) called "Red Dust", actually about a rock band who survived The Last Great War. So in horror novel terms it is my "gunslinger" for those fans of Stephen King.
I tried to resurrect it again in 2003, co-writing with a girlfriend, who later became an ex-girlfriend and officially put a bullet in the head of that work. The bullet must have missed the zombie's brain, because here I am again writing the Zombie novel I always wanted to. It is a serial in the form of a diary this time.
Since my original plan, Zombies have really become popular and I fell in love with the works of Max Brooks and films like "The Last Man on Earth" and "28 Days/Weeks Later". As an homage to Brooks, I have adapted many of his zombie survival guide rules regarding zombie behavior to the walking ghouls in this story. Of course, I am a George Romero fan, so there are some comical political parodies that may pop up here and there too, like leaders who read from teleprompters and "Mission Accomplished". Yeah, I'm a right-wing A-Hole but I reserve the right to screw with the political foibles of other Right Wing A-Holes.
Originally, it was a survival story and zombies were just an existing nuisance. They play more of a starring role in this work. I am bringing back to life (not as zombies) Ned K. Who was a star in some of my OLD stories, some written about 1991. and Karl, who takes many guises and forms but is usually a punk rocker having a bad day.
at the time of this writing, I am still finding a way to post these episodes so people can read them as I update, so stay with me. I need you and so does Ned. The poor bastard is out there all alone.
P.S. i am dedicating this work to my friend and former employer, Gerard Schank. "The Basement" club is sort of an homage to SNAFU
